Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and Lesson Teacher

I can’t remember the first time that music entered my life, but for as long as I can remember it has been embedded in me. I grew up in the small town in Upstate NY of Corning. During childhood, I took piano and trumpet lessons before finding my voice and discovering that singing is my passion. I began voice lessons at 13 years old and continued my training throughout college.

In high school, I was heavily involved in musical theater and choir. During high school, I contemplated what I wanted to study in college. All I truly knew was that I wanted to pursue a career in music. By chance, I was eventually able to observe a music therapy session firsthand and immediately knew that this was what I was meant to do. After high school I was accepted into Berklee College of Music as a voice major. I completed my bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where I received a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology.

After my undergraduate program, I completed my internship at the Hochstein School of Music in Rochester NY where I worked with a wide variety of populations including children with special needs, adults with various disabilities, eldercare (more specifically memory care), and more. After I had completed my internship at the Hochstein School, I was offered a full-time position at the school as music therapist where I have worked as a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) since 2017.

In addition to working as a music therapist, I also teach adaptive lessons for piano, voice, guitar, and basic theory at the Hochstein School. From 2016-2017, I taught piano, guitar, ukulele, and voice at the Rochester Academy of Music and Arts. I currently live in Rochester NY with my french bulldog Layla who also occasionally attends sessions as part of her training to become a therapy dog.
